Do I need an account to shorten a link?
No. Paste a link and you get a short link and a QR code immediately, with no signup. The redirect works forever and is free. Leaving an email is optional — it lets us ping you on the link's first click and gives you longer to claim it.
What happens if I don't claim the link?
The link keeps redirecting forever — claiming is never required to keep it working. You have 7 days from the link's first click to claim it (60 days if you leave an email). After that window it still redirects; you just can't edit where it points or see its analytics.
When does the claim window start?
On the link's first click, not when you create it. A QR code printed on a flyer or a product can sit unscanned for months and stays fully claimable — the clock only starts once someone actually taps the link.
Can I choose a custom short link?
Not on an anonymous link — the short code is generated for you. Custom slugs, custom domains, editing, and analytics unlock once you claim the link into an account.
