Zippy vs ManyChat · the DM automation platform

Zippy vs ManyChat

ManyChat is a DM automation platform: it sends comment-to-DM and keyword replies as an official Meta and TikTok messaging partner. Zippy is a link engine whose links open the real native app from a social in-app browser. These are mostly complementary, not rivals — the honest headline is that ManyChat can actually send DMs to your followers today and Zippy's own DM automations are not live yet, while Zippy's contribution is the link inside the message that lands in the real app instead of a logged-out webview.

The verdict.

Read plainly, this is less 'versus' than most of these pages. ManyChat sends the DM; today Zippy cannot — its Meta app is unapproved and its DM automations are dark, so no Instagram account can be connected. If you need comment-to-DM or keyword replies actually going out to followers right now, ManyChat (or another approved partner) is the answer, full stop.

What Zippy changes is the link inside the message. A normal link in a DM opens in Instagram's in-app browser, logged out; a Zippy link springs the real native app. You do not have to choose — paste a Zippy link into your existing ManyChat flow on any plan, with no code, and the send stays ManyChat's job while the landing becomes Zippy's. That is the recommended setup today.

When ManyChat is the better choice.

We would rather you pick the right tool than the loud one. If any of these is you, ManyChat is the honest answer:

  • You need DMs actually going out to your followers now — ManyChat is an approved Meta and TikTok partner and sends them; Zippy's own DM channel is not live yet.
  • You want a full chat-marketing platform: multi-step flows, sequences, broadcasts, keyword trees and audience segmentation. ManyChat's flow builder is far deeper than anything Zippy offers.
  • You are running DM automation across channels (Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, TikTok) from one tool — ManyChat's channel coverage is its strength.
  • You do not paste external links into your DMs, so the in-app-browser escape that Zippy adds would not change your results.

Questions people actually type.

Can Zippy replace ManyChat?
Not today, and the honest reason is that Zippy's own Instagram DM automations are dark: its Meta app is unapproved, so no account can be connected and no DM is sent to a real follower yet. ManyChat sends DMs as an approved Meta partner. Zippy's role right now is the link inside the DM — paste a Zippy link into your existing ManyChat flow and it opens the real native app instead of the in-app browser, on any ManyChat plan with no code.
Do links in ManyChat open in the in-app browser?
Yes — a plain link sent in an Instagram DM opens in Instagram's in-app browser, a sandboxed webview where the recipient is logged out and cookies are gone. A Zippy link in that same DM runs through a redirect engine and opens the real installed app. That is the specific thing Zippy adds to a ManyChat flow, and it works on any ManyChat plan.
How much does ManyChat cost versus Zippy?
ManyChat has a Free plan (25 Active Contacts after its March 2026 restructure) and a Pro plan from $29/mo billed annually ($39 monthly) that scales with your contact count (manychat.com/pricing, verified 2026-07-20). Zippy is a flat link plan — Hero is $19/mo, or $15 billed annually — and does not scale with contacts because it is not sending the messages. They price different jobs, so many people pay for both.
Does Zippy show if a DM tap opened the app?
The measurement exists but the DM channel that would feed it is dark today. When a Zippy link is tapped, its interstitial reports the outcome on iOS — opened, browser, or broken — as a sampled rate and trend, never a per-tap fact, and Android taps are recorded as unmeasured and excluded from both numerator and denominator, so it is an iOS rate. Zippy's own comment-to-DM funnel that would report commented, sent, tapped and opened is built but not live, because the Meta app is unapproved.
